Guidelines for Manuscript Submissions
SkyLight Paths
recognizes that believers and seekers of different faith traditions, or no specific
tradition, want to listen to and learn from each other as never before. Our books help
people to deepen their relationship to the sacred and learn from their own and other faith
traditions, in new ways.
Our authors are at the forefront of spiritual thought. They draw on the wisdom of religion
to help believers deepen their faith and help seekers in their search for meaningful
spirituality. Our books are non-fiction almost exclusively, covering topics including
prayer, meditation, spiritual retreats, spiritual direction, social justice, parenting and
spirituality. We are not currently seeking submissions in the realms of biography or poetry. We publish both picture books
and board books for children. Because of the tremendous number of manuscript submissions we receive, we usually
cannot correspond individually with authors until we receive a proposal of what they would
like to submit for publication. A proposal includes:
- A cover letter
- A table of contents
- The introduction to the book
- Two sample chapters (do not send the entire book)
- A marketing plan detailing how you will promote the book
- A self-addressed stamped envelope if the material is to be returned. (Please note
that without a self-addressed stamped envelope, your material will not be
returned.)
If your project is a short (under 40 pages) childrens book, you should send the
entire text.
Send the material (on paper; no
computer disks and e-mail is discouraged) to:

We are sorry that this process is slow, but it is the only way we can ensure that all
material receives proper consideration. Thank you for considering SkyLight Paths.
